Rule 1.  Player's equipment. Shin guards with socks that completely cover Shin guards. No jewelry and no baseball cleats.

Rule 2.  Referees. The referee's main concern is the safety of the players. The ref enforces all the rules of the game.

Rule 3. Duration of the game. The official time is two 25-minute halves.

Rule 4. Start of play. The kick-off is taken at the center spot and is determined by a coin toss. The ball does not have to move forward to start the half. Each player must be in his or her half of the field and at least ten yard away from the ball. If a referee has to do a drop ball, the play resumes when the ball hits the ground.

Rule 5. Ball in and out of play. The ball is out of play when it COMPLETELY goes over the goal line or touch-line. It doesn't matter whether it's in the air or on the ground.

Rule 6. Method of scoring. The ball must COMPLETELY go across the line into the goal.

Rule 7. Off sides. One of the most complicated laws of the game.  The basic concept is that a player must have at least one defender (not including the goalkeeper) between him and the goal WHEN the ball is played to him. Also, to be offside, the player must be in the opponent’s side and looking to gain an advantage.

Rule 8. Fouls and Misconduct- Most fouls are due to pushing, holding or tripping and result in a free kick. Other ones to watch out for are handballs and charging.

Rule 9. Free kicks. There are two types: direct and indirect. Indirect means a goal may not be scored until the ball has been played or touched by a second player of either team.  Direct means a goal can be scored off the free kick. (No substitutions on this kick)

Rule 10. Penalty Kick. If a player commits a foul in their own penalty area a Penalty kick will be awarded. The kick is taken twelve yards out from the goal. (No substitutions on this kick)

Rule 11. Throw in. Both feet have to be on the ground, two hands on the ball, and the throw must come from behind the players head. The penalty for a bad throw in is the opposing team get the ball. (if it is your teams throw in, then you may substitute as many players as you like and the other team will then be allowed to substitute as well. If the team with possession choses not to substitute than the other team can not substitute.)

Rule 12. Goal Kick. A goal kick is granted when the attacking team kicks the ball over the goal line. The kicker may not touch the ball again until it has left the penalty area and has been touched by another player on either team.

Rule 13. Corner Kick. A corner kick is awarded when the defending team kicks the ball over their own goal line. A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick. (No substitutions on this kick)

Rule 14. The goalie may be changed at any point during the game.  If a goalie is taken out for any reason other than injury, they may not come back in the game as a goalie.

Rule 15. If play is stopped due to injury, that player must leave the field till a legal substitution can be made. You can substitute a player for the injured player at the time of injury. If the injured player is substituted out, the other team may also make a single substitution at that time also.

Rule 16. Shootout (playoffs only).  The goalie on the field at the end of time, must be the goalie for the shootout. Your first five shooters(minimum two females) must be taken from players on the field at the end of time. If the score is tied after the first five shooters, you may then choose from the bench players rotating  boy, girl, boy, girl etc...  The team with the most goals after five shooters wins.  If the score is tied after five shooters, it goes to “sudden death” rules.  Each team shoots till one team scores and the other team does not

Rule 17. If a player misses 4 or more games during the regular season(spring/fall session each), they will not be eligible to participate in playoffs or championship game.

Rule 18. If one team doesn't have enough players to field a full team then the other team is to play down to the amount fielded by that team. Teams must have 5 players including a goalie to play. If one team dose not have 5 players then that is a forfeit and a pick up game is to be played.

Rule 19. If one team's score is more than 3 goals ahead of the other team, then the winning team will need to play down one player till the score comes back to within 3. Unless the team is playing with only 5 players including a goalie.
